DONEGAL STONE COMPANY PRAISED AS IRISH MAN WINS GOLD AT CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

winnerAN IRISH garden designer has won a gold medal at the world-famous Chelsea Flower Show – and singled out one of his Donegal suppliers for special praise.

Paul Martin, from Dundalk, won the top award with his The Garden of Mindful Living focussing on health and healing.

It was the designer’s first time on Chelsea’s prestigious main avenue, occupying a prominent spot next to the showground’s famous floral marquee.

Paul says he was inspired by his love of far eastern travel and yoga in his creation of the garden.

The garden is described as a calm space to reboot after a busy day at work.

“A key component of the garden came from Donegal, beautiful stone from McMonagle Stone in Mountcharles,” said Paul today

“I am thrilled and delighted to win gold with our first major show garden on the main avenue at Chelsea Flower Show. It’s a great golden morning at Chelsea,” he said.

“I want to thank fellow Irishman David Scott and Vestra Wealth who have steadfastly supported us over five years.”

Over the past two decades, Mr Martin has received nine gold and three “Best in Show” awards in Bloom in the Park, Royal Dublin Society, RHS Hampton Court Flower Show and Singapore Garden Festival.

Paul was presented with his medal this morning.
