DD FOOD: MOVE OVER TO THE DARK SIDE

unnamed-8DD FOOD – MOVE OVER TO THE DARK SIDE

Quality dark chocolate is rich in beneficial minerals and is known to be good for your skin, improve blood flow and boosts brain power.

But you need to choose dark chocolate with 70% or higher cocoa content.

Dark chocolates often contain some sugar, but the amounts are usually small and the darker the chocolate, the less sugar it will contain.

A good dark chocolate is rich in Fiber, Iron, Magnesium, Copper and Manganese.

Dark chocolate is a good energy source because it releases sugars slowly into the bloodstream and does not elevate insulin levels.

According to a UK report in 2007, Ireland has the highest per capita consumption of chocolate in the world.

You can order international award-winning chocolates online if the supermarket variety isn’t for you.

But we couldn’t wait that long.

MOSER ROTH DARK CHOCOLATE 70% (ALDI)
€1.19 for 125g
Very moreish, even after two squares….definitely one we would buy again.

Tesco Ecuador & Ivory Coast 85%
99c for 100g
Bitter and intense but one square was enough with a coffee. No bad thing.

Asda Extra Special Ivory Coast & Dominican Republic 85% £1.79 for 100g
Strong fruity flavour and just a little cloying.

Lindt Excellence Dark 70% €2.69
Smooth taste but didn’t stand out as much as expected.

unnamed-8Green And Black’s Organic 70% Dark Chocolate Bar 100G €2.00

Smooth, lovely balanced flavour.
