donegal lightning DDHUNDREDS of homes have had their electricity cut off during today’s thunder storms.

ESB Networks says the lighting strikes were “severe” and Co Donegal is amongst the worst affected areas.

More than 300 homes have been cut off in the Kerrykel area.

Another 200 homes on the outskirts of Letterkenny have also lost supply.

ESB also says more than 160 homes in Creeslough, 90 homes in Dungloe and 170 homes in Stranorlar have also lost power.

It said crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.

A spokesman said all homes should be re-connected by 9pm.

Several roads have also been flooded in the downpours.

Gardaí are urging motorists to drive with care over the next few hours.
