DD BOOKS: Before the Fall by Noah Hawley
This novel started really well and was pacy, gripping and a bit of a page-turner and then it suddenly became plodding, overly descriptive and tiresome.
On a foggy summer night, eleven people—ten privileged, one down-on-his-luck painter—depart Martha’s Vineyard on a private jet headed for New York.
Sixteen minutes later, the unthinkable happens: the plane plunges into the ocean.
The only survivors are Scott Burroughs—the painter—and a four-year-old boy, who is now the last remaining member of an immensely wealthy and powerful media mogul’s family.
Almost everyone on that plane has a sinister secret.
It’s an easy beach-read but has no great depth. I really just wanted to finish it to see what happened rather than because I was interested.
With Before the Fall Noah Hawley, the writer behind TV series Fargo, has created a suspense thriller that will keep you on your toes – for a while.
