ULSTER SFC: Donegal are leading by two points after a superb first-half display against Fermanagh, but they could be trailing after Sean Quigley missed a penalty deep into first-half injury-time.

Neil McGee was given a straight red card late in the half, after he appeared to strike out.

Maurice Deegan pointed to the spot, but Mark Anthony McGinley on his championship debut made a wonderful save from Sean Quigley, which ensured Rory Gallagher’s side led at the interval.

Donegal started brightly and opened their account with points from Patrick McBrearty and Frank McGlynn.

Fermanagh hit back through Tomas Corrigan and levelled, but then Odhran Mac Niallais scored a spectacular goal on twelve minutes to put Donegal 1-2 to 0-02 ahead.

Further scores from Marty O’Reilly and McBrearty put Donegal in the ascendancy, but Fermanagh hit back with scores from Quigley, Corrigan and captain Eoin Donnelly.

McGinley then produced a stunning save from Quigley after a high ball wasn’t dealt with – then deep in injury-time he again saved from Quigley this time from the penalty spot.

It’s all set up for a cracking second-half.

Half-time: Donegal 1-06 Fermanagh 0-07
