Lee McLaughlin is missing in Paris

POLICE in Paris say they are helping in the search for an Irish soccer fan from Donegal who is missing in the city since yesterday.

Lee McLaughlin, who is 19 and from Gleneely, didn’t return home to Ireland yesterday evening on his scheduled flight from Paris. His phone has been switched off.

The Department of Foreign Affairs have told Donegal Daily they are aware of the situation and are providing consular assistance.

Late last night a spokesman for the Préfecture de Police said: “We are liaising with the Irish Embassy here in Paris and giving every assistance that is possible.”

His sister Rosemarie said Lee’s disappearance was out of character.

“He was last seen leaving Ibis Paris Montmartre at 12pm on Tuesday. He was not answering his phone and it is now off. This is very out of character for Lee. His flight home has already departed and he has not shown up to the airport. We are all very worried,” she said.
