A new Information Guide for Older People will be launched today by the Donegal Age Friendly Alliance in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Stranorlar.

This Information guide has been produced to address the information needs of older people in the county, in particular the needs of the most vulnerable older people in our community.

It provides information on entitlements, health, housing, home service supports and maintenance, safety and security, social & leisure activities, transportation, local support groups, useful contact details and so on.

This guide has been produced by the Donegal Age Friendly Alliance which is made up of representatives from both Statutory and Voluntary agencies that provide services and supports to older people and representatives of Older People themselves.

The need for this type of a guide was identified in the Donegal Age Friendly Strategy which was launched in May 2015. The information in this guide is presented in a clear format making it very easy to use and is free of charge.

It will be available from post offices and local libraries as well as from Donegal County Councils website www.donegalcoco.ie .
