NEW RECYCLING BANK ARRANGEMENTS FOR LETTERKENNY

written by Stephen Maguire June 30, 2016

recyclingA new system of recycling banks including alternate locations is to be introduced in Letterkenny.

The number of recycling bring banks at Dunnes Stores, Oldtown has been reduced and the Council is asking the public to use alternative sites in the Letterkenny area.

These other sites for the recycling of glass and cans can be found at:

Alcorns Garden Centre
Aura Leisure Centre
Donegal County Council, Public Service Centre
Letterkenny Centra, Circular Road
Letterkenny Recycling Centre, Carnamuggagh
Pinehill Business Park, Mountain Top

Suzanne Bogan, Waste Awareness Officer with the Council is delighted with the number of people using bring banks throughout the town but is asking the public to be mindful of the fact that the number of banks at the Dunnes Stores site has been reduced.

“I am delighted to see the demand for these bring bank facilities increasing in the town and unfortunately we have had to reduce the number of facilities at the Dunnes Stores site. We are asking people to make sure that their recyclables are properly inserted into the banks and that they are not left behind in plastic bags because the banks are full. We would consider this illegal dumping and so we are asking people not to do this”.

“We are working to secure further sites in Letterkenny but in the meantime there are a number of bring bank sites for the recycling of glass and cans located throughout the town and we are asking members of the public to use these instead”.
