Maire McGinley is a Community Mental Health Nurse in Mental Health Services for Older People.

She has organised a Jiving night as part of her funding-raising parachute jump to raise much needed funds for The Donegal Alzheimers Society.

“The funds raised will go towards providing respite home care services to enable families to provide ongoing care to there loved ones at home,” says Maire.

“There is an estimated 2,200 families in Co. Donegal living with Alzheimers and or other related dementias.

“The number of individuals receiving a diagnosis of Dementia is raising each year. The Azheimers Society provide a vital service to people with Dementia and their families.

“Due to lack of funding they are unable to provide home respite care to all families affected by Dementia and currently have a large number of families awaiting assessment for this service.”

The Jive night is on July 16 in Gortahork Parish Hall and is just €5 at the door – with loads of prizes also on offer.
