Road cyclists racing at Tour de France (low section, low angle view)MOTORISTS are being urged to be patient – and show their support today – for one of the county’s most enduring events….the annual charity cycle from Sligo to Letterkenny.

The cyclists will meet at The Quay, Sligo and will depart from The Quay at 10.00am and travel along the following route: N15, through Drumcliff, Grange, Cliffoney, Creevykeel, Bundoran by pass, Ballyshannon by pass, Barnesmore Gap, Ballybofey Main Street, Stranorlar Main Street, onto N13 towards Letterkenny, N14 at Dry Arch Roundabout, Polestar Roundabout, Port Road, Main Street, Lower Main Street Letterkenny, turning left onto Oliver Plunkett Road, left at Pearse Road and finishing at the Community Centre, Pearse Road.

Congratulations to Paddy Delap who has been the main organiser and his large band of volunteers of this annual event for the last 24 years which has seen the numbers taking part increase every year as well as raising €800,000 for Cancer Research.

If you are travelling this route ” honk your horn ” in support of this very worthy event.

Some delays may be experienced so patience is asked for. Good luck to all and above all safe cycling.
