Tir Chonaill Gaels PicTIR CHONAILL GAA CLUB NOTES

Condolences

The club wishes to extend its sympathy to former players John, Brian and the McParland family on the recent passing of their sister Kay who passed away recently in America. May she Rest in Peace.

Ladies

Pride of the club goes to our ladies who completed another piece in the jigsaw in the history of the club by capturing the London ladies Junior championship on Sunday. Played in near perfect conditions at Greenford the first half was a tight affair with the sides going level throughout the half with the help of two goals for the Gaels. The second half started the same as the first with team exchanging points before Dulwich scored a goal to go 3 ahead. This sparked a comeback from the Gaels with Leanne Sweeney and Lisa Walsh a constant thorn in the Dulwich defence, Fiona Morrissey moved from midfield to full forward and within 5 minutes the Dulwich keeper was picking the ball from the back of the onion bag. The Gaels kept the pressure on and further goals ensured that there would be no nails bitten in the final moments.
Final Score Tir Chonaill Gaels 4-12 Dulwich Harps 1-12.
It was a brilliant day for our ladies with great performances throughout the pitch, Charlotte McEleney, Claire Towey, Shirrin Travers, Ciara O’Brien, Leanne Sweeney, Lisa Walsh and Fiona Morrisey all stepped up to the plate. The special mention for the manager Johnny Flynn who put in a really massive effort since March in helping to get the ladies across the line.

Seniors

The seniors went down by the minimum against Parnells on Sat evening in Greenford. Missing a few regulars the boys could never get an upper hand against a sticky outfit.
Final Score Tir Chonaill Gaels 0-15 – Parnells 0-14

All Britain Championships Feile

The club hosts a festival of underage football from this Thursday to Sunday, hundreds of kids from all over the UK will descend upon Greenford to participate. We would appreciate if all members could make themselves available over the weekend to lend a hand.

Social Night

The club host a social night on Saturday the 23rd in the Claddagh Ring from 8pm.Tickets available from team management and committee.
