LETTERKENNY AC NEWS: Kieran Crawford continued his recent good form with a 5th place finish and a time of 17.37 in Tuesday evening’s Raphoe 5K.

Richard Raymond returned to winning ways in the M60 category in 22.16. Mairead Pinder finished in 28.09. The race was won by City of Derry Spartans’ Emmett McGinty in 16.15.

Over 250 runners took part in the Rathmullen 5K on Friday evening, emphasising again the healthy state of road racing in Donegal. The amazingly consistent Ivan Toner was the first Letterkenny AC finisher. He notched up his 3rd consecutive sub 16 minute 5K, with his time of 15.58 giving him 5th place overall and 1st place in the M35 category. Next was Liam Doherty in 16.36, followed by Raymond Birch in 16.40 and Kieran Crawford, doing his second race in a few days, in 16.54.

Fionnuala Diver’s supreme form shows no sign of abating and she occupied her customary position as the first woman, with an excellent time of 17.45. Niall Barry, running in familiar territory, had a sub 18 minute finish of 17.55. Padraic McCafferty ran 18.08 and Padraig Friel 18.12. Ciaran O’Donnell had a strong run to finish in 18.46. Kieran Coyle clocked 19.29 and Barry Mackey, doing his 2nd 5K of the week, finished in 19.35. Marie Boyle’s excellent form continued and she finished in 19.42 to put herself within touching distance of her PB.

Noeleen Scanlan and Jane McGinley both came home in 19.09. This represented a PB for Noeleen. These 2 LAC ladies will be hoping that the extra time now available to them, as they are on holiday from their primary school teaching jobs, will see them go under 19 minutes for the first time. Their recent form would suggest that target is a very realistic one.

Paddy Tourish ran 20.46, Ita Kelly 21.16, Marian Kerr 22.23 and Danny Sharkey 22.51.
2 Letterkenny AC runners braved Saturday morning’s rain to take part in the Letterkenny parkrun. Peter McLean and hard working club club official Bernie Walsh both had places in the first half of the finishers. Peter, running his 15th parkrun, clocked 26.38 and Bernie finished her first parkrun in 27.19.
