Scottish marine tourism expert Alan Rankin from Ciogach Consulting told attendees at today’s Marine Tourism Seminar that ‘our coastline is one of our greatest assets”.

With a coastline spanning over 1,400km, we certainly have “a treasure on our doorstep”.

The seminar, hosted by Donegal County Council in association with Donegal Tourism Ltd., covered everything from how to harness the power of technology to boost your offerings to how Scotland ‘awakened the giant’ and capitalised on their sprawling 8,000km of coastline.

Speakers at the seminar included Dr. Peter Bolan from the University of Ulster who discussed the power of digital media for marine tourism, and Alan Rankin who presented the Scottish tourism strategy ‘Awakening the Giant’.

Other speakers included Olivia Crossan from An Taisce’s Clean Coast Initiative, Joy Harron the Marine Tourism Officer with Donegal Tourism, Trevor Scanlon from Donegal County Council and Adrian Harkin from Inish Adventures.

At the end of the seminar the speakers took questions and attendees were given the opportunity to discuss issues raised during the seminar in greater detail.
