On Friday last, July 15th , the eighth annual Event Industry Awards were announced in front of an audience of hundreds of distinguished event industry professionals. Each year the best events in the industry compete against each other for the most prestigious awards in Irish events. Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture came out on top for the Best Event in Ireland for 2016.
Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture is Ireland’s premier recycled fashion competition which is going into its seventh year. Entries will open again this September for Ireland’s budding fashionistas who will have a chance to meet the star studded judging panel and strut their stuff on the catwalk in the 3Arena next April 2017.
Many students across Donegal have taken part in Junk Kouture since it began, earlier this year giving Buncrana’s Maurisz Malon (pictured above) a platform to showcase his amazing designs and opportunity to wow the judges. He even appeared on ‘The Late Late Show’ following the competition!
Other entrants from Donegal this year included Deele college’s ‘Thrashparency’ and Cora’s coffee kouture.
Elizabeth Curran, co-founder of Bank of Ireland Junk Kouture has extended her gratitute towards all involved, saying; “All the teachers, schools, parents and teachers who made the show everything it is, a huge thank you to all of you.”
Speaking about the award, Laura Lynch, Head of Youth Banking at Bank of Ireland commented; “In addition to inspiring students to channel their passions and creative ability, the competition offers students who get involved a life changing experience.”
