Letterkenny has been named as one of the towns that could apply to achieve recognition as a Gaeltacht Service Town under the Gaeltacht Act 2012.

On Tuesday next 26 July at 7pm a meeting will be held in the Council Offices in Letterkenny for any interested parties including groups and organisations who would like to learn more about the process involved.

A language plan must be put together for any town interested in becoming a Gaeltacht Service Town and it is hoped that a local committee can be established to put this plan together.

At the meeting interested parties will learn more about the language planning process for Gaeltacht Service Towns and the type of support and assistance that will be available.

This meeting will include representatives from Foras na Gaeilge, the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and Údarás na Gaeltachta. Anyone interested in attending this meeting should contact cobaoill@forasnagaeilge.ie.
