Letterkenny is participating in the 2016 National Edition of Communities in Bloom in the International Challenge (Large) category, along with Fairhope Alabama USA; Lambton Shores ON Canada; Morro Bay California USA; Omagh Town, Fermanagh & Omagh District Council Northern Ireland & Rosemère QC Canada.

After beating 860 villages and towns in the 2015 Tidy Towns competition, Letterkenny will be a hard candidate for the competitors to beat.

The President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, even paid Letterkenny a visit to pay tribute to the incredible work of the Tidy Towns Committee!

The Communities in Bloom judges, Odette Sabourin-Dumais from Québec & Piet Boersma from The Netherlands will be in Letterkenny this week on the 27th, 28th and 29th of July. People are urged to do their bit to keep Letterkenny nice and tidy for the judge’s arrivals.

Communities in Bloom is a non-profit organisation based in Canada. The main aims of the organisation is to foster civic pride, beautification, environmental responsibility and improving quality of life through community participation and a national challenge.

The organisation focuses on education regarding the sustainable development and importance of green spaces and natural environments.

The results will be announced in Regina in the Saskatchewan Province in Canada from October 27th to 29th, 2016.
