Club Duathlon

The club is organizing a duathlon on the 11th of September in Letterkenny as a prelude to Aidan Callaghan going to Kona.

It will be open to non club members with prizes also for twelve triathlon club members and also prizes for Letterkenny sporting club members. Aidan learned to swim with Swilly Seals , has ran with Lettereknny Ac and played football with Saint Eunan’s so there will be a challenge to see who can follow in his footsteps.

5K
Gavin Crawford won the Red Hugh’s 5K in a time of 15.54 and Danny Mooney won the Churchill 5K in a time of 16.04, following on from his win in Burtonport in a time of 16.27.

Cycling
In the cycling front there were two junior club members racing in the Churchill undera-ge cycling event in Churchill. Ciaran Mc Gettigan finished third in the under fourteen race after two laps of the Templedouglas Keelogs route.

Elijah McGinley competed well in the under twelve but had a crash and did not finish.

Well done
Rachel Stilvern made the trip to Donadea in Co. Kildare to do a duathlon and raced well.

Loughrea
Next up is the sprint triathlon in Loughrea which is a National series event and Tri the lough sprint race held outside Omagh.

Open water safety

The club organizes a supervised swim session every Monday evening at six thirty pm for all members. A swim route is set up with a kayak to cover that swim route only.

If anyone wants to use Gartan outside that time or that swim route please enter from the heritage centre entrance point and please make sure you have a swim partner and swim buoy for personal safety. There is a club shed for changing and the lock code is available from any committee member.

Pool Payment scheme

Please note the quarterly swim fee for July to the end of September is now due for all participants. If anyone has not paid before the end of July they will be asked to pay arrears for July and pay ten euro per night going forward.

Training continues as follows

Monday: Gartan – Open Water Swim 6.30 pm (weather permitting)

Wednesday : Aura Pool – Swim session 8.00 pm
