Funerals Of Three Tragic Friends Take Place This Sunday

The three friends who tragically lost their lives in a horrific car crash on Thursday morning will all be buried on Sunday.

Steven McCafferty-McGrath (19) Kaylem O’Muirchaidh (19) and Teresa Robinson (20) will all be laid to rest on Sunday.

Hundreds of mourners are expected to attend the funerals as Donegal continues to struggle with the loss of five young lives in a tragic 24 hour period on our roads.

The friends were killed when the cars they were travelling in were involved in a head-on collision on a rural back-road between Drumkeen and Letterkenny near Trentaboy.

Gardai are still trying to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash on a remote road and have appealed for witnesses.

Mother-of-two Teresa Robinson had been accepted on to a new course which was due to start in August – and was due to celebrate her 21st birthday party tomorrow.

Her funeral will take place at 10.30am at St Patrick’s Church, Cross Roads, Killygordon for Requiem Mass at 11am. Internment afterwards in the family plot.

Talented hurler Steven McCafferty-McGrath represented Donegal at underage level, and was described as a ‘gentleman’ by those who knew him.

His funeral will take place at 12noon in St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny with interment afterwards to New Leck cemetery.

Kaylem O’Muirchaidh has been described by those closest to him as being a wonderful friend with a great personality.

His funeral will take place at 10.15am to the Church of our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Glenfin for funeral mass at 11am and interment afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

The funerals of Barney McGinley and Dermot Murphy-Boyle take place tomorrow in Letterkenny at 12pm and 3pm respectively.
