Late goal stuns Harps as Wexford gain crucial three points

FOOTBALL: A late goal from Aidan Keenan left Finn Park stunned and handed Wexford a crucial three points in their battle to beat the drop.

Prior to this game, Harps knew a home win would more or less seal their place in the Premier Division next season.

Harps were eleven points ahead of second-bottom Wexford Youths, a victory tonight would’ve made the task of Wexford catching Harps almost impossible.

However, a header in the 85th minute from Aidan Keenan secured a vital win for Wexford which cuts the gap to eight with thirteen games to play.

Wexford had lost their previous six, and knew nothing less than three points would be good enough.

Harps will be desperately disappointed, it was a poor display, and in truth it was a pretty poor spectacle as both teams look terrified to lose it.

Harps fans were keen for their side to go on the offensive, but that didn’t materialise and it seemed Harps would have been content with a point.

They looked on course for it as both sides really struggled to create any chance of note, that was until Aidan Keenan headed home with just five minutes to go.
