A host of musical talent is coming together in Letterkenny tonight to support a Donegal woman who is hoping to end her 14-year wait for a kidney transplant.
Yvonne McFadden from Falcarragh has been receiving kidney dialysis three times a week in Letterkenny for 14 years after her body rejected a kidney she received as a teenager.
But now she has been given hope that the life-changing procedure is within reach after her friend Tom Evans from Moville volunteered to take part in a kidney pairing scheme in the UK.
The two friends met through the Inishowen Gospel Choir and tonight musical friends of Yvonne and Tom are getting together for a special event at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny tonight to raise funds for costs they will incur as part of the process, and for the kidney dialysis unit at Letterkenny University Hospital.
Inishowen sisters ‘The Henry Girls’, one of Donegal’s best-known groups ‘In Their Thousands’, jazz-based pop act ‘Great White Lies’ from Inishowen, soul and funk 12-piece ‘Velvet Alibi’, and ‘The Inishowen Gospel Choir’ are all taking part in the night for Yvonne and Tom at the Regional Cultural Centre at 8pm. Admission €15.
