CHARITY: Anybody who follows the famous Glasgow Celtic FC will know all about ‘Wee Jay’!

A charity event in his honour will be held this Sunday evening at the stunning Downings Bay Hotel.

The Celtic fanatic from Lurgan, Co. Armagh has captured the hearts of all Celtic supporters over the years.

Wee Jay Beattie, a regular face at Celtic Park – has Down Syndrome but he has inspired people with his verve and passion for the club.

He famously was taken on the pitch at half-time in a SPFL clash at Hamilton and the goal he scored won the Scottish Goal of the Month competition.

Not only is he an incredible supporter – he is also a brilliant player!

Barry Connor told Donegal Daily, “We’re delighted to let readers know of a charity event we are having in the hotel on Sunday at 5pm.

“It is a special event involving the famouse band ‘Charlie and the Bhoys’ from Glasgow – and Celtics #1 supporter ‘Wee Jay’ from Lurgan.

“Jay has Down Syndrome and is a regular face at Celtic Park.

“The gig is in his honour and we will be running a raffle in aid of his charity ‘Downs and Proud’.

“Its going to be a great event for a great cause and we hope a big crowd comes out to support Downs and Proud.”
