Noel Cunningham almost clinches a seat in the Senate

He’s known as the host with the most!

But flamboyant Noel Cunningham was almost a Senator according to documents just released form the department of the Taoiseach.

Noel, who is the host at Harvey’s Point, was among up to 70 names put forward to become one of 11 of Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s personal Senate nominees.

Noel even wrote to An Taoiseach explaining why he would be perfect for the job and would be working on a platform of tourism and the Wild Atlantic Way.

“I am a ferocious charity and community worker. This is a cheeky request, but never was such a move so appropriate and right,” said Noel.

Unfortunately Noel was not one of the 11 picked by Enda Kenny for the €65,000 post.

We can’t help thinking how good Noel would have been as another voice in the Senate for Donegal especially in the area of tourism.

Next time Noel!
