One of the highlights of the year for Letterkenny Ladies Captain Jackie Ireland was the annual ladies outing. This year the venue was the Ballymascanlon Hotel in Co Louth.
A superb choice which was endorsed by the over thirty ladies who travelled. A big thank you to Captain Jackie and her wonderful Vice Captain Mary Fowley for organizing this perfect venue, from both a golfing and entertaining aspect.
Many club events have taken place over the summer, including the Mc Fadden’s gift shop sponsored competition last week.
Hannah McFadden of McFadden’s Pharmacy, sponsors of a club competition with Captain Jackie Ireland and some of the winners.
On 26th July Brown’s on the Green sponsored the Tuesday competition. The following results were recorded;
Winner was our talented young golfer Sarah Mc Brearty 35 pts. Runner-up Marian O Sullivan 33 pts. In third place the winners older sister Mary Beth Mc Brearty 33 pts. Two young golfers to watch. Front nine Marian Keating 19 pts, back nine Kate Gallagher 19 pts.
The Little Angels open was played on Thurs 28th July. Anne Condon with a super score of 40pts was the clear winner. Runner-up Vera Kearney 32pts, in third place Marian O Sullivan 32pts (bot). Congratulations to all the prize winners.
Even though the very brave Challenge Cup team put up a spirited fight they were sadly beaten by a very strong Belvoir Park team who now go on to the Ulster semi-finals.
The club would like to thank Margo Birmingham the team Capt, and all the players, caddies for their participation in the team events.
Finally the ladies club would like to wish our Capt Jackie a wonderful Captains day on Sat. August 6th.
