Sadness at passing of well-known Donegal priest

There is widespread sadness as the death of well-known West Donegal priest Fr Paul Gallagher.

Fr Galagher, who was just 54, passed away at the Donegal Hospice in Letterkenny yesterday.

He was Chaplain to Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola, Falcarragh.

He was ordained on 20th June, 2004 in St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny, Co Donegal by Bishop Philip Boyce, O.C.D.

Fr Gallagher received his primary education in St Fíonan’s National School, Falcarragh, and his Secondary Education in Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola.

He began his training for the Priesthood at St Patrick’s College, Thurles (1998 – 2002) before going to St Patrick’s College, Maynooth (2002 – 2004) from where he was ordained to the Priesthood.

Removal from the Hospice today, Tuesday, 2nd August at 3pm going to his family residence at Hilltop, Falcarragh. Rosary on both nights at 9pm. House private
from after the Rosary until 10am in the morning and also on the morning of the Funeral.

There will be all night Adoration in St Fíonan’s Church, Falcarragh from Wednesday evening until Thursday morning before the Funeral.

Removal from there on Thursday, 4th August at 11.30am for 12 noon Requiem Mass at St Fíonan’s Church, Falcarragh with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
