Donegal Historical Society are hosting a field day in Glencolmcille next Sunday, the 14th August.

The group will be meeting at Glencolmcille Folk Village carpark at 2:30pm.

The walk will be led by guide Seamus McGinley, and they will explore three megalithic tombs, a Souterrain (an underground structure associated with the later Iron age), and three Turas Stations.

The Turas refers to a pilgrimage path in the historic area. The pilgrimage is performed around fifteen standing stones and cairns (including St. Colmcille’s own church and bed), as well as the large cairn at the saint’s well.

This event is free and all are welcome. Refreshments will be available.

For further details you can call Úna (after the 11th of August) at 087 2261378.
