“It looks like Michael Murphy isn’t enjoying his football”

GAA: James Horan feels Michael Murphy looks like a player not enjoying his football, and looks burdened by the weight of responsibility on his shoulders.

The former Mayo boss feels Murphy is one of the best players in the game, but writing in his column with The Irish Daily Star feels the Donegal captain looks like a player not enjoying his football.

Michael Murphy.

Horan also said that the weight of expectation consistently on his shoulders is bound to have an effect on him.

Horan said, “Michael Murphy looks like a player not enjoying his football at the minute.

“He’s an exceptional player, and he’s still the main man for Donegal, but he’s being asked to perform a number of duties.

“Win kick-outs, start attacks, land big frees, it’s tough and he comes in for a lot of attention from opposing teams, and will do so again against Dublin.”

Horan, who has been analyzing this year’s championship as a pundit for Sky Sports, also singled out Ryan McHugh as being a ‘class act’.

“Ryan McHugh is a class act, and he’s not afraid of contact for a small player.

“He’s a fabulous player and he can cause Dublin huge problems, along with Eoin McHugh, Frank McGlynn and Odhran MacNiallais.

“Patrick McBrearty was awesome on Saturday, and a repeat of his performance against Cork could fire Donegal into a semi-final.”
