McConnell shows Harps what they’re missing with MOTM display for new club

RyanMcConnellFormer Manchester United Youth captain Ryan McConnell enjoyed a dream debut for his new club Ballinamallard United this afternoon.

He scored, and won the MOTM award, but unfortunately his side were defeated 2-1 by Irish League giants Linfield.

McConnell is on loan from Finn Harps, after enduring a frustrating season under Ollie Horgan.

McConnell wasn’t given many opportunities to impress, and was left kicking his heels on the bench.

Gavin Dykes who was Harps assistant earlier this season, left Harps in June to take over at Ballinamallard.

He took McConnell on loan from Harps in order to get him some first-team football.

That has instantly paid dividends with McConnell having an outstanding debut for the Mallards.

The club’s supporters gave him the MOTM award, and he also notched his first senior goal in the process.

Harps fans will be glad they have secured the services of McConnell for next season, as many feel he could become a mainstay of the Harps defence for years to come.
