The neighbouring county described the St Michael’s man a ‘a simply wonderful player and a master-craftsman who won everything a senior inter-county footballer can win.’

The statement said McFadden’s decision ‘robs us all of one of the great inter-county GAA presences’.

“In Tyrone we probably first noticed him with his 1-07 against us in the 2004  Ulster semi-final and more recently he was our assassin with crucial match-deciding championship goals against uss in 2011, 2013 and 2015,” they said.
