OLYMPICS: Donegal rower Sinead Jennings has reached the Olympic final following a superb performance in today’s semi-final.
It’s a dream come true for Sinead, who hails from Hawthorn Heights, Letterkenny.
Competing in the Lightweight Women’s double sculls semi-final alongside partner Claire Lambe, the duo produced a breath-taking performance to reach an Olympic final.
The pair finished third in a time of 7:18.24, which was enough to narrowly edge out the Danish duo of Anne Lolk Thomsen and Juliane Rasmusse to ensure their place in the Olympic final.
Jennings, 39, now resides in Limerick with her husband Sam Lynch and their three children, and is working as a doctor.
She has suffered many setbacks during her rowing career, but will now will fulfil her dream of competing in an Olympic final.
What a story and what an achievement!
The final will take place tomorrow and Sinead and her partner Claire Lambe will be confident they can secure a medal if they can deliver another excellent performance.
