Packie puts foundation stone in place for Mullaghduff Community Centre

Former Celtic and Republic of Ireland legend Packie Bonner returned to his late mother Gracie’s school last night to support the ‘Buy a Brick’ fundraiser.

Packie spoke with great affection about his mother’s memories at the Mullaghduff school which is now a thriving Community Centre albeit in need of some repair work.

The well known building is a hub of activity and is home to the Nationally famous Mullaghduff Fife and Drum band as well as many other local organisations.

Built in 1897, the building requires some work and the local committee are asking for anyone who has a connection with the area to consider buying a brick for €50 as part of the fundraising required to ensure the building continues its outstanding hosting of great community activity in the area.

Each brick can be named in memory of a loved one or in any name of any person, company, etc.

Details of how to buy a brick can be found on the facebook page

Packie Bonner said he was delighted to be asked to launch the appeal and he himself bought the first brick which will go on the special heritage wall in his late mother’s name.
