Harps Under 17s go down to Dundalk

A Jack O’Keefe hat-trick helped give Dundalk a 3-1 win over the Finn Harps U17s at Oriel Park in the FAI National League earlier this afternoon.

The result makes it a little more difficult now for Declan Boyle’s side to secure a top four place in order to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition. However, Harps are still very much in contention to progress with games coming up against St. Patrick’s Athletic and Longford Town.

Dundalk led 2-0 at the break with O’Keefe putting the hosts in front on 20 minutes and just past the half-hour mark the same player made it 2-0 from the penalty spot.

Shane Blaney gave the visitors a lifeline when he converted a 58th minute penalty. However, it was O’Keefe who had final say completing his hat-trick with two minutes of normal time remaining.
