Maghery retained their status as All-Ireland Champions in Ennis, Co. Clare at the weekend, and Drill Instructor Anne Marie O’Donnell says she knew from the first step and note that they would retain the title.
Maghery Fife and drum band are en-route home with the Fleadh Cheoil cup as back-to-back title winners!
The band who came back stronger than ever this year displayed their fiery All-Ireland performance in all its glory despite the terrible weather conditions that hung over the Fleadh arena.
Drill instructor, Anne Marie O’Donnell told Donegal Daily, “From their first step and note in it was clear the reigning All Ireland Champions were holding onto our title.
“The bands sharp performance was unlike any other seen or heard before. The band will be returning to the Rosses at around 8pm tonight!
Their homecoming updates can be followed via their Facebook page, the band are ever so excited to show off their routine in Main St Dungloe and Maghery tonight – and want to thank all the community, family and friends for all their support in the lead up and over the course of today.
“A big shout out goes to Hugh McMonagle & John Paul O’Donnell who composed and performed this dedicating message to the champs ahead of their competition yesterday. Please see video below.
