GAA News: Malin triumph over Naomh Columba

Malin seniors beat Naomh Columba away in Glencolumbcille last Saturday evening on a scoreline of Naomh Columba 2-10 Malin 3-10 with Brendan McLaughlin getting two goals and Kieron McColgan with the other.

The team and scorers were: Darragh McLaughlin, Michael McLaughlin, Conor Farren, Gary Farren, Kieron McColgan (1-00), Declan Walsh, Paul McLaughlin, Anthony Kelly (0-01), Adam Byrne, Dan McDaid (0-01), Matthew Byrne (0-04), Darren McLarkey (0-01), Brendan McLaughlin (2-03), Seamus Houghton and Stephen McLaughlin. Subs Danny McCarron for Dan McDaid. There was no reserve game.

Next week sees the resumption of the Senior Championship, Malin opened their group with a victory of Sean MacCuimhaills and play Naomh Muire who also won their first game against Glenfin. This is a massive match and the club would urge as much support as possible for the team managed by Terence Coulhoun and Anthonny Kelly. The reserves lost out in their first game by three points.

Michael Murphy Sports Donegal Senior Championship Fixture: Naomh Muire V Malin on Sunday 28 th of August in The Banks, Annagry at 3:00pm, reserves at 1:30pm. All Support welcome.

 

Lotto

There was no winner of this week’s jackpot of €750. The numbers drawn were 3-5- 7-1- 4-2- 6. The €50 winner was Regina Doherty, Middletown, Malin Head. Next week’s jackpot is €800.

 

Pool Room

Our new pool room is now open every Saturday and Sunday evenings from 8:00pm to 11:00pm in the clubhouse for anyone looking to play a game of pool. Pool competitions will be run in the Autumn. Everyone welcome.

 

Ceili

The club held a Ceili last Friday, well done to everyone who helped organising it and supplying the food on the night.

Jiving Lessons

Jiving Lessons will re-commence in the Clubhouse on Monday 12th September from 9pm to 10pm for 6 weeks with Josie & Catriona. €5 per person. Everyone Welcome.

 

Underage

The minor girls have training every Monday at 8:00pm. All girls from aged 15 upwards and new members are welcome to attend.

The minor boys are playing Fanad Gaels at home in Connolly Park on Tuesday 22 nd of August at 7.15 in the Championship.

The under 13’s lost to Milford last Friday in Division 1.

The under 12’s had a great day out in Croke Park last Tuesday, getting to play on the pitch, hopefully many of them will get back there again in the future.

The under 11’s lost out to Carndonagh last Thursday and they play Moville on Tuesday this week.

The under 10’s travelled to Buncrana last Saturday to compete in the Sean Masterson tournament. Both teams had a great day and were unlucky to lose at the semi-final stage.

The club would like to say a big thanks to the Buncrana Club and to Elaine and Marty Coyle for the invitation. To top of a great day, the boys got to meet Michael Murphy who called in to say hello.

 

Shop

The club shop is open every Saturday from 12.00 – 2.00 and Sunday from 11.20 – 2.00 or alternatively contact Susan Byrne on 9370638 or 0867832242 . The shop has a great range of stock in all sizes including coats, jackets, hoodies, tracksuits, socks, shorts, hats, new gear bags and much more club merchandise.

Get Well Soon

The club would lish to wish Eamonn Doherty Edwards, former Malin player from the 50’s and 60’s, all the best in his recovery after his recent illness in Dublin hospital, he is now on the mend and we hope to see him back soon supporting Malin. The club would also like to wish Gerard Green a speedy recovery from his knee injury picked up in last week against Four Masters.
