ATHLETICS: Over the last three weeks, we’ve watched some of the world’s greatest athletes battle it out for the ultimate prize in their sport, an Olympic Gold medal.

However, closer to home, a 92 year-old Donegal man has incredibly won FOUR Gold medals at the National Masters Track and Field Championships.

Hugh Gallagher, (92) of Milford AC produced the superb performance over the weekend, to add more medals to his fantastic career.

Gallagher would put us all to shame, competing, enjoying and winning at athletics at the age of 92!

Hugh has proved that age really is just a number!

With allegations of corruption, bribery, fraud and cheating at the Olympic games in Rio, it has left a sour taste.

So it’s refreshing to see Hugh, at 92, still participating in athletics at grassroots level – and showing us everything that is great about sport.
