Cara House have launched a voluntary fáinne scheme after many have claimed they would speak Irish more if they knew someone who could speak the language too.

The Cara House Team held a get together in the Station House Hotel in Letterkenny so as everyone who contributes to course, groups and activities could meet each other over lunch.

Cara House members also took the opportunity to launch the “Voluntary Fáinne scheme”.

All the staff and many of the tutors as well as a number of Volunteers agreed that they would participate and wear the appropriate fáinne – even ‘Cupla focal’!

This autumn Cara House will be holding Irish for Parents classes on Friday mornings and hosting a conversation group in the Library on Mondays at 10.30am commencing September 19th to facilitate anyone interested in socializing in the medium of Irish.

This is part of Cara House’s contribution to the initiative ‘Letterkenny as a gateway to the Gaeltacht’.

So, if you have a love of the Irish language and wish to improve your “Cupla Focal then come along and share your knowledge with others!
