Money raised through a unique book project continues to pour in for the setting up of a Pieta House Service in Donegal.
There was a large crowd and widespread support for the book launch of ‘Promise of Spring’ by D. J. Watt which was held in The Villa Rose Hotel, Ballybofey, in May.
The occasion was topped off on the night with a donation of €2,050 which was given to Mr. Danny Devlin, Anastacia and Christina, from the Action For Hope Committee for Pieta House North West Project.
On 10th August in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny, Daphne again met with Danny and other committee members to present a second donation cheque for €1,500 from the sale of her books.
Danny expressed much appreciation for this gift and added that they are fast approaching their target and that within weeks discussions will begin on a timeframe for the commencement of a Service.
‘Pieta House Service is totally free of charge, the staff are fully qualified and provide a professional one-to-one therapeutic service for people who are experiencing suicidal ideation, people who have attempted suicide and people who are engaging in self harm. A doctor’s referral or a psychiatrist’s report is not required.’ (www.facebook.com/actionforhope).
‘Promise of Spring’ is a collection of poems and photographs about Nature, changing seasons, family and friends, travel, social issues related to living with loss, grace and faith.
The book has received wide acclaim, is a lovely gift, and can be purchased for €10 or £8 from many shops and bookstores throughout Donegal, Derry/Londonderry, Strabane, Castlederg, Omagh and Belfast. The proceeds from the sale of the book are being donated to Pieta House North West Project.
