A record amount of new students are set to attend Letterkenny Institute of Technology this September, with the intake expected to reach 1,100 pupils.

A whopping 52,000 students got offers from third level institutions on Wednesday, 1,985 of which are from Donegal.

CAO points for courses at LYIT have risen this year, particularly in Honours Bachelor degrees in Law, Early Childhood Care and Education, and Quantity Surveying, and LYIT’s Advanced Certificate and Ordinary Bachelor degrees have risen; including Fashion with Promotion, Agriculture, and Agricultural Technology.

Courses in construction have risen in popularity in conjunction with the economic recovery. Similarly, interest in Computing and Science courses have risen exponentially at LYIT.

Nationally, most points for courses have either stayed the same of dropped. However points for courses in areas such as science, technology, mathematics, and engineering have shot up exponentially.
