BUSINESS: The local economy in Donegal Town set to receive a huge tourism boost as the 8th annual Taste of Donegal Food Festival gets underway.

Thousands are expected to attend the three-day event, which attracts foodies from all over Ireland to the popular food festival.

The festival is growing in popularity every single year, and this year organisers are expecting it to be biggest festival they’ve had to date.

The Taste of Donegal Food Festival is one of the biggest weekends in the calendar for Donegal Town, and provides a significant tourism boost to the area.

Hotels in the locality and B&B’s have seen an increase in visitors booking up for a great weekend of food, fun and entertainment.

The standout features of this year’s festival workshops from top chefs such as Catherine Fulvio, Joe Shannon, Neven Maguire, Kevin Dundon and many more.

As always there will be a great mix of exhibitors, ranging from local restaurants to high quality artisan producers from not only Donegal but across the country in general.

There will be competitions and entertainment throughout the weekend, with Sunday evening’s firework display bringing the festival to a close.

A Taste of Donegal 2016 takes place on Friday 26th (4.00 to 10.00pm), Saturday 27th (11.00am to 7.00pm) and Sunday 28th (11.00am to 7.00pm).

Daily admission is €5 per adult and €1 per child. A three-day weekend pass costs €12.

More information on exhibitors and details of the weekend programme can be found at ww.atasteofdonegal.com and on the Facebook page A Taste Of Donegal Food Festival.
