Noeleen Scanlan’s superb summer form continued on Tuesday night. She ran a time of 20.02, which gave her a 7th place finish and 1st place in the women’s race in the Donegal Creameries 5K in Killygordon. John McElhill of Finn Valley AC was the race winner in 17.18.

Several Letterkenny AC runners travelled to Milford on Friday evening for the John Kilmartin Memorial 5K. The race was run in excellent conditions and, like all races put on by Milford AC, it was very well organised.

Danny Mooney notched another victory, in a time of 16.26. Club mate, Fionnuala Diver, continued her impressive form and took the women’s 1st prize in a time of 17.58.

Ciaran O’Donnell had a very fast finish, to come home in 18.36. He was 3rd in a very competitive M40 category. Noeleen Scanlan, running her 2nd race of the week, was the 2nd woman in 19.13. Gwyn Yemm had a good run and clocked 19.16. Sinead Peoples ran 19.46 and ensured a LAC clean sweep of the prizes in the senior women’s race.

Barry Mackey continued his punishing race schedule and achieved yet another podium finish in 19.50. He took 2nd place n the M50 category. Ben George came home in 20.57. Richard Raymond, having his most successful ever summer, took the M60 prize again, in 21.35. Marian Kerr’s time of 22.09 gave her 1st prize in the W40 category. Niamh McDaid ran well and recorded a time of 23.09. A large number of LAC runners were among the prize winners.

Peter McLean, dedicated Letterkenny parkrun competitor, received a reward for his commitment on Saturday morning. He ran the fastest time of his 22 parkrun 5Ks in the past 7 months. His time was 24.30, which is 3m36s faster than his 1st run on February 6th. This means he has taken an impressive 14% off his first run.

Anthony Doherty was a clear winner of Sunday’s Glendowan 5K. Anthony didn’t spend much time taking in the area’s beautiful scenery, as he set a blistering pace to finish in 15.54. He was almost 3 minutes clear of his nearest challenger, Convoy AC’s James Donaghy.
Darren Price is currently sidelined with an injury but he would have been delighted to see 4 members of his family keeping the Price name flying high in his absence. Sons Matthew and Jack ran 26.02 and 31.06 respectively. His wife, Claire, ran 35.13 and daughter Emma had a good run to finish in 40.54. All at Letterkenny AC wish Darren well in his fight against injury.

Club member, Gerry McMonagle, had a workplace accident on Tuesday. The club wishes Gerry a speedy recovery.

On behalf of my family, I (Hugh Gallagher), would like to offer sincere thanks to the large number of people who sympathised following the recent death of my father, Michael. It was gratifying to have so many club members, as well as athletes from other Donegal clubs, in attendance at the Wake and Services. Michael Gallagher, R.I.P.
