Minister McHugh: A Taste of Donegal is “highlight of the year for foodies”

Minister Joe McHugh congratulates all involved in the successful weekend at “A Taste of Donegal” Food Festival.

Minister of State Joe McHugh joined “Donegal Person of The Year” Deirdre Mc Glone on Friday night at the Pier in Donegal Town for the opening night of the 8th ‘A Taste of Donegal.’

Speaking at the event, Minister McHugh, “With over 130 exhibitors, celebrity chefs, demonstrations and entertainment ‘A Taste Of Donegal’ has all the elements for a great weekend. This three day event now attracts Food Lovers from all over the world and has achieved a reputation for excellence with all involved in the industry.”

After the official opening there was a Presentation of “A Passion to Inspire” Chefs Competition 2016 by Peter Griffiths, Bob Mc Donald, Gerard M. Molloy and Anthony Armstrong and Cookery Demonstrations by Celebrity Chefs Gary O’ Hanlon TV3’s The Restaurant and Colin Mc Kee, RAI “Best Chef Donegal”. The opening concluded with Pains Fireworks staging a fabulous display of cracking colour over Donegal Bay.

Minister McHugh, “I wish to commend the hard work and dedication of the organising committee, all the volunteers, the exhibiting businesses and everyone who turned up to support this event and assisted in making it a massive success, in what is fast becoming the showcase highlight of the year for foodies in Donegal and much further a-field.”
