MacCumhaill’s beat Burt to lift Senior hurling title

MacCumhaills made all the running against Burt to lift the Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure Senior Championship at O’Donnell Park today.

The Ballybofey outfit put in a huge shift with captain Lee Henderson once again leading from the front to claim only their second ever senior title.

There was just two points between the sides at the break with MacCumhaill’s going in ahead on a scoreline of 1-7 to 1-5.

In fairness to the Inishowen side, they never gave up and a late Ronan McDermott goal gave them some hope but MacCumhaills held strong.

MacCumhaills eventually ran out winners with a four point cushion on a scoreline of 2-13 to 2-9.

The large crowd at the Letterkenny venue will have left the ground happy that the better side won but both teams won many admirers with a keenly-contested and fair game.
