BARNHILL’S ‘Mr. GOLF’ ELECTED ONTO PRESTIGIOUS CGI REVIEW GROUP: Congratulations are extended to Letterkenny Golf Club stalwart member and GUI representative Mr. Barry Ramsay who has recently been nominated onto the OGB [One Governing Body] club formation group, a work group who will review the current range of golf club management structures throughout Ireland and propose models of good governence for the future.

With the newly agreed amalgamation of the GUI and ILGU, both bodies have been involved in a consultation process to form a single governing body for golf in Ireland and have spoken to all key stakeholders in relation to this aspect of governance. Following feedback from club representatives, they have now set up this wonderful opportunity to shape golf on the island of Ireland so that it will reflect a modern sport leading us into the next century.

Barry Ramsay, of Letterkenny Golf Club, has been appointed to this prestigious committee of seven persons. It is a single honour for him and the club, as he has been involved in change management not only in golf but also in his former professional life as a Social Work Manager. From this, the OGB will propose models of governance and prepare reports for discussion on such club models for the future of golf.

Club management and all club members would like to congratulate Barry on his appointment and for once again bringing Letterkenny Golf Club to the fore of golf nationally.

The others members of the committee are Donard Mac Clancy, Club Manager Mullingar G.C. [Chair]; Grainne Clancy, Hermitage G.C.; Ger Ennis  Athy G.C.; Pauline Baille, Belvoir Park G.C.; Lesley Williams Woodenbridge G.C. and Nialll Kilgallon, Confederation of Gol
