Division 2

CLG BnaG v Malin

Moyle Park, Saturday @ 4.30 & 6pm

The final home game of the season will be a historic event this Saturday as our Seniors collect the Division 2 title for the first time in the Clubs history. The Seniors and Reserves will take on Malin, who are preparing for a Senior Championship quarter final, with the cup being presented afterwards.

The support all season at home and away has been fantastic and it would be great to see as large a crowd as possible down for the presentation on Saturday to mark a significant achievement. There will be plenty of tea and refreshments available after the game as well as an underage match at half time. We would encourage as many people as possible to please come out and get behind the lads and join in the celebrations afterwards. Throw in times are at 4.30pm for the Reserves with the Seniors at 6pm.

*Division 2*

CLG BnaG 2-15 St Nauls 1-11

It wasn’t a vintage performance from the boys on Saturday but nevertheless they got the deserved 2 points against a battling St Nauls that were fighting for their Division 2 survival. They got off to a nightmare start when a soft St Nauls penalty gave the visitors a 1-1 to no score lead after 6 minutes. Again though the boys grew into the game and despite a big penalty claim for themselves late in the half going unanswered, went in ahead at the break 0-7 to 1-3 thanks to some great points from Luke Barrett, Gary Merritt, Christopher Barrett and Cathal Mc Gettigan. Early in the second half the boys got a stroke of luck to further their lead when a Sean Black effort from distance slipped through the keepers hands and into the back of the net. Na Galloglaigh were much improved in the second half but never put St Nauls to the sword and they kept battling back, despite being reduced to 14 men midway through the half. Some nice scores from distance by Nauls were traded with some lovely quick moves for scores from Na Galloglaigh, and one of those moves resulted in a great second goal. From a short kick out Tj Evesson played a great ball in that was brilliantly caught by PJ Hagan who fed Darragh Black off the shoulder to finish to the net. From then on Na Galloglaigh always had the Mountcharles men at arms length and seen out the game for a comfortable 2-15 to 1-11 win. With Four Masters losing to MacCumhaills on Sunday it opened up a 5 point lead at the top of the table and secured a historic league victory for Danny and his team. Team: Caolan Mc Gettigan, Kieran Sheridan, Barry McNulty, TJ Evesson, Gary Merritt (0-1), Paddy Peoples, Jonny Logue, Joey Cullen, Sean Black (1-0), David Curley, Luke Barrett (0-2), Cathal McGettigan (0-5), PJ Hagan (0-2), Christopher Barrett (0-4), Kyle Black (0-1). Subs: Pauric Curley for Sheridan (HT), Darragh Black for K. Black (1-0) 45m, Anthony Fisher for L. Barrett (50m), Gavin Grier for Evesson (55m), Enda McHugh for Hagan (60m), Martin Doyle, Dean Burgess, Brandon Toye, Caolan Bolton
