Job Vacancy: LYIT in conjunction with Communications Technology company ERNACT are offering academics an exciting opportunity to complete a funded Research Masters programme at the educational facility.

The innovative initiative would see the successful candidate participate in the exciting project which is a collaboration between LYIT and ERNACT.

LYIT, School of Computing, is offering a Masters by Research (MRes) to carry out new research on how rural areas in Europe, particularly Donegal and the North West Crossborder area, will be impacted by the availability of High Speed Broadband.

The successful candidate will carry out this research in collaboration with ERNACT, based in CoLab, part of the North West Regional Science Park on the LYIT Campus in Letterkenny.

ERNACT or European Regions Network for the Application of Communications Technology provides digital development and international project management services to Europe’s regions and cities. The successful applicant will have full access to ERNACT’s European-wide broadband research, partnerships and projects.

The MRes is fulltime, includes payment of fees and a bursary of €5,000 per annum. It commences in October 2016 and is 2 years in duration. It would be attractive for those with an Honours Degree in Computing, Business, Economics or the Social Sciences.

A primary objective of this masters is the provision of high quality research and development training leading to the award of a Master’s by Research degree. It will also include training in advanced research techniques (Certificate in Research Practice) and in the application of new knowledge and technologies.

If you wish to apply for this Research Masters, please email your cv to Dr. Gertie Taggart – gertie.taggart@lyit.ie.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 23rd September 2016.
