Traffic chaos as Letterkenny gridlocked!

Motorists are calling on urgent action to be taken as traffic issues came to head this evening in Letterkenny.

On the Port Road, traffic going in opposite directions were at a complete standstill.

While at the roundabout at the top of the Port Road, traffic trying to go out the Pearse Road, and traffic going towards the Main Street were also not moving.

It caused a massive tailback, with cars pretty much parked on the roundabout.

Every junction around Letterkenny was jammed with traffic going in all directions not moving.

One motorists who contacted Donegal Daily, reported delays of half an hour to get from Letterkenny Retail Park to the old Oatfield roundabout.

He said, “It’s getting worse, I left the retail park at 4pm and it took me half an hour to get to the old Oatfield roundabout.

“It’s absolutely crazy, and to be honest, it’s worse the traffic issues are getting, I’ve never seen a town like it for traffic.

“It’s a complete farce, and it’s about time local councillors got their act together to sort out the crisis.”
