A new social housing project has been given the green light – which will see eight new houses built at a cost of over €1million.

The new homes will be constructed in the Radharc Na Trá Bréige area of Malin – following confirmation of the project by the Local Authority Housing Construction programme.

Social housing has been a major issue all over Donegal, and the project will provide a big boost in the Malin area.

Minister Joe McHugh has warmly welcomed the announcement, and said it represented positive investment in the county.

McHugh said, “I have received confirmation today that eight houses under Local Authority Housing Construction Programme have received budget approval, located at Radharc na Trá Bréige, Malin.

Housing shortages are a real and serious concern nationwide, and I am glad to see the Government is following through on commitments made regarding increasing the number of houses being built.

“I believe these announcements are a positive investment in the County and I will continue working closely with Donegal County Council and my Council colleagues, and also with the Department of Housing Planning and Local Government to progress here.
