The winner of the winning Donegal lotto ticket worth than €2M has been revealed.

He was a lucky lotto player who bought a €4,532,646 winning ticket while he was “home for a wedding”.

The punter — one of two people sharing Saturday night’s jackpot — purchased the slip at Boyce’s Centra in Carrigart.

The man, who is now €2,266,323 richer, moved to the UK eight years ago.

Store manager Shaun Boyce said: “He is from the UK but his mother came from here.

“He was living locally for a long time but left about eight years ago.

“He is over and back and was home for a wedding when be bought the winning ticket.”

Shaun added: “I hope it brings him great happiness.”

And the shop worker also revealed the store is very lucky when it comes to selling winning Lotto tickets.

Boyce said: “We had a winner seven or eight years ago and another one two years ago. It was a New Year’s millionaire Lotto and she won one million.”

The other player who purchased their ticket in Co Kerry is yet to come forward.

The winning numbers were 2, 5, 8, 14, 40 and 42 and the bonus number was 7.
