Donegal County Council Housing officials have this evening met with residents affected by the recent fire at Rosemount in Letterkenny along with an official from the Department of Social Protection.
Residents were advised of a number of accommodation options available to them along with details of emergency supports that could be made available depending on individual circumstances.
Residents are currently considering an option that is available immediately.
The council said it appreciates the difficult situation faced by those affected by the recent fire and we would like to assure those affected that we will continue to assist in any way possible.
The residents have been accommodated in Dillons Hotel since the night of the fire and this arrangement has been extended to 7th October and the situation will be kept under review.
The Council has been in regular contact with the manager of the complex at Rosemount regarding when the accommodation is expected to be available again and whether the complex insurance will assist those affected with accommodation costs.
The council said it is likely to be a number of months before this accommodation will be available again.
“For this reason residents have been advised to try and secure alternative private rented accommodation until the apartments are available for occupation again,” said a spokesman.
The council has contacted letting agencies and passed on details of accommodation currently available in Letterkenny to the residents.
“The residents have been advised to keep in touch with the Council regarding their individual situations and again we wish to confirm that we will continue to assist in any way possible,” added a spokesman.
