A young Letterkenny woman has told a court she was “horrified” by her actions after refusing to leave the front of a local bar on St Patrick’s Day.

Aine Gill of 14 Ballymacool Terrace appeared at Letterkenny District Court charged with failing to comply with the directions of Gardai on March 17th last outside the Cavern Bar at Lower Main Street.

The court heard she was refused entry and refused to leave the front of the bar.

When Gardai arrived they asked Ms Gill to leave the area but she refused on two occasions and was eventually arrested.

Ms Gill, aged 27, appeared before Judge Paul Kelly and said she was “horrified by my actions.”

She added that she hasn’t had a drink since and was trying to address her issues with alcohol.

She had visited Letterkenny Garda station on several occasions but the Garda who arrested her was not on duty to allow her to apologise.

Ms Gill told the court she worked part-time as a caterer and Judge Kelly fined her €100.
