Donegal road trips are taking an exciting new direction as the county features on a new website for driving around Ireland.
Online travel site Expedia have recently launched Drive Ireland, a website which showcases some of the best driving routes and driving itineraries in Ireland.
The site covers the popular driving routes of the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland’s Ancient East, while Donegal features prominently with the Northern Headlines and Surf Coast routes included.
Some of the local highlights recommended along the way for travellers include taking a step back in time to Grianan of Aileach and uncovering more than 3,000 years of Irish history or visiting Glenveagh National Park, the second largest national park in Ireland.

The suggested driving routes encourage visitors to explore Mount Errigal, Donegal’s highest peak and marvel at the spectacular panoramic views from the top. With so much to see and do in the area, it is hoped that visitors who take on the five day drive along the Northern Headlands and Surf Coast Routes will create memories of Donegal and Ireland to last a lifetime.
The Drive Ireland website has been created for people from home and abroad looking to get out and explore more of the country. With The Wild Atlantic Way beginning in Donegal, the route outlined offers views and landscapes that make it popular all year round.
